The John Deere Turf technician is responsible for the diagnosis, repair, and scheduled maintenance of a wide variety of John Deere and Competitive turf products such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, Gators/UTV’s and other consumer products.  This technician will report to the service manager, and all work shall be completed in a safe, professional, and timely manner.  The technician must be able to diagnose the failure mode, using the appropriate technical manual procedures or online computer manuals and special tools.  Additionally, the technician must be able to perform complete component removal, disassembly, and reconditioning, following technical procedures.

You’ll focus on:    

  • Performs a high level of service and setup on all makes of John Deere turf equipment along with competitive turf products
  • Perform reconditioning and repair of all machine systems and components
  • Coordinates with Service Manager to ensure effective processes are in place for all turf services offered through dealership specific service programs 
  • Report unit specific service repairs needed to the Service Manager, for proper and safe operation by the customer
  • Reviews and explains any maintenance, repair or other service concerns with the customer if needed and documents on work order
  • Participates in Service EDUCATE & other training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge as directed by the service manager 
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
  • Effectively utilizes Service Delivery software to properly manage each Repair Order
  • Effectively learn and utilize all specifically required John Deere support software (CCMS, Service Delivery)
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  • Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
  • Accounts for all time and material used in performing assigned duties
  • Demonstrate skills to other technicians as required

What we are looking for:

  • 1+ years of experience performing service repairs
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills, must be able to retain positive relationships with customers and co-workers
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of turf equipment
  • Ability to use Service Advisor, Microsoft Office applications, and basic computer functions
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Must be able to work service department hours as scheduled, and keep reliable attendance
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required, must be able to drive company vehicles
