The Staff Accountant-Team Lead will be responsible for being the main source of support for Murphy Tractor’s AP, AR and Sales Tax specialist team members. The team lead position should be trained in all account’s receivables, accounts payables and fixed asset functions including cash and accounts receivables and sales tax reconciliations.


Essential Functions

Team Lead:

  • Coordinate: Communicate and support AP, AR and Sales Tax Specialists. Work with Controller to manage and support best practice accounting procedures.


  • Training: Work with Controller to provide accounting team members with continuous training regarding applicable Equip accounting programs.


Staff Accountant:

  • General Ledger:   General ledger accounting and reconciliation. Input general ledger entries for account changes, Develop and maintain reports on asset and liability account balances, Develop and maintain regular reports via company’s accounting schedule


  • Accounts Receivables:  Processing and reconciliation of accounts receivable general ledger accounts; to include statement cycle processing, management of branch payment processing, management of collections processing. 

  • Accounts Payables: Processing and reconciliation of accounts payables general ledger accounts; to include supporting clearing accounts. Develop and maintain reports and files on payables processing.


  • Sales Tax: Provide backup to Sales Tax Specialist in reporting and reconciling sales tax liabilities. Manage and oversee sales tax exemption policies and procedures.


  • Fixed Asset Management:  Manage and reconcile fixed asset program to include management of new and disposed of assets and the processing of monthly depreciation posting to general ledger.


  • Merchant Services Program Management: Manage and support staff in credit card processing program, to include oversight of fees and best practice processing procedures.



Other Functions

  • Assist with other duties assigned and directed by corporate management within the framework of Murphy Tractor and Equipment Company’s objectives.


  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Windows, Word.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skill set.

Physical Requirements and Work Schedule

Employee must be able to do occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs.


Education/Work Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and at least two years related experience and/or training required.
