Honnen Equipment Co., your authorized dealer for John Deere Construction & Forestry equipment is looking for a Wirtgen Product Specialist.

Position Summary:

Manage the sales activities of Wirtgen/Hamm/Vogele products (excluding Kleemann) by working with Wirtgen Factory Representatives, Regional Management, Territory Managers (TMs), and Customer Service Advisors (CSAs) to attain the highest possible profit margins while still attaining market share and attaining forecasted budgets. This position is approximately 80% direct selling and 20% product management.

Essential Functions:

Assist the Sales Representatives in developing and implementing strategic sales plans to accommodate regional goals and sets sales forecasting activities to achieve performance goals, including quarterly goal setting.

Keep abreast of current Wirtgen/Hamm/Vogele programs and assist CWP, C&F, and CSA reps as well as regional sales managers with selling and financing.

Develop marketing plans to identify new sales prospects and plan activities to promote the sale of new and used equipment to meet the goals of the organization.

Single point of contact for Wirtgen Group Products for Utah & Eastern Wyoming.

Responsible for the marketing of used Wirtgen/Hamm/Vogele.

Assist in the Honnen Wirtgen/Hamm/Vogele annual business plan, annual goals, and annual goals for TM’s concerning Wirtgen/Hamm/Vogele products.

Establish and maintain good working relationships with Wirtgen/Hamm/Vogele personnel and all other attachment vendors.

Monitor and evaluate the activities, products and services of the competition.

Responsible for lead generation - industry associations and call ins from marketing sources

Sales Funnel Management- through CRM, JDQuote2, quote logs, demo reports, lost sales reporting to insure order to invoice accuracy.

Support regional sales staff in providing sales presentations, meeting with key customers to promote our product and to maintain customer relationships.

Manage trade shows, advertising, and direct mailers.

Provide training to customers and attend training to keep current on product.

Job Requirements


Ten years of hands on/sales experience on road building equipment

College degree preferred, with undergraduate coursework in business, marketing, engineering or related field or equivalent above experience

Valid driver’s license and clean MVR

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Position requires hands on experience and ability to do light mechanic work on Wirtgen equipment

Advanced computer and CRM application systems skills required

Intermediate computer and application systems skills required


Sales training 1-2 weeks per year at Wirtgen America in Nashville, TN and international annual trips to the Wirtgen factories in Germany.

Physical Effort:

Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 75 pounds occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently.
