Job Description

Develops and implements plans and processes that increase used equipment sales, profit margins, and inventory turnover. Manages policies that involve valuation, reconditioning, and wholesale.

The TNE IMPACT Center will be a facility that allows for new, innovative, and highly capable methods to add real value for our customers and employees. It will support all departments across our retail locations, improve efficiency in new equipment set up, reconditioning, streamline parts storage and transfers, and improve our customer service abilities in our retail locations. Provide added space for growing our CDIP education process for our customers and cross training our departments on new John Deere technology and equipment.

You’ll focus on:

  • Reports and maintains market information regarding used equipment values and trends by using business intelligence (BI) reporting and analytics
  • Daily valuation of all used trade opportunities via MFPro eValuator tool, previous TNE sales history, online auction results, and like kind items advertised online via 3rd party sources
  • Maintains strong knowledge of geographic specific market values while considering pricing consistency across all TNE locations
  • Maintains balance in valuation around each specific item regarding to market data vs opinions
  • Develops and creates personal relationships with all possible outlets for dispersal of used inventory which may include: John Deere Remarketing services, wholesale markets, internet outlets, auctions, and trades or sales to other dealers
  • Owns and communicates the metrics that involve aged inventory levels, used turnover and used equipment margins with the sales team
  • Assigns trade values to assist in selling new equipment while ensuring the acceptable resale of used equipment
  • Track and communicate valuation vs realization of used equipment by salesperson
  • Track and communicate estimated reconditioning vs actual per machine with the individual salesperson and their RSM – identify trends
  • Partners with Marketing Manager to develop and manage all aspects of used equipment marketing within the organization
  • Develops, communicates, and executes a used sales process for the entire organization
  • Develops a measurable and consistent reconditioning policy for the organization
  • Establishes reconditioning levels by product segment and class and manages adherence via personal involvement with service department on each machine
  • Hands on partnership with the Impact Center team on item specific reconditioning decisions
  • Maintains and creates all sales and finance programs for used equipment
  • Creates a system of washout tracking by machine and customer
  • Studies inventories turn and washout by product segment
  • Develops a process using available systems to create and distribute used equipment sales leads to the sales team
  • May include oversight of the Internet Sales Department and its personnel. 
  • Presents as requested to a chosen audience


What we are looking for:

  • 5+ years equipment sales experience
  • Ability to speak and write effectively one-on-one and within a group
  • Proficient in standard computer applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions, business analytics and reporting
  • Familiar with John Deere and competitive products
  • Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience
