Job Description

Purpose:
This position is responsible for developing the companys customer base by developing and maintaining positive relationships. This position is involved with the sale, rental, or leasing of all new and used John Deere and all-makes equipment, promoting the Parts and Service departments and for meeting customers needs and growing market share, while maintaining acceptable levels of gross profit and attaining sales unit targets.
Responsibility:
Sells, rents and leases new and used equipment and attachments
Quotes and negotiates prices and credit terms, contracts and records and closes orders
Manages and maximizes rental conversions
Grows and develops customer relationships and loyalty to increase market share
Manages and controls sales related expenses
Meets or exceeds Company targets for units, dollars and gross profit
Manages designated territories and customers to maximize our presence on equipment purchases
Manages market awareness and provides lost sales reports and Deere-required transaction reports
Works with customers and potential customers to provide solutions to their equipment needs
Provides on-site expertise for demonstrations, machine inspections and technical support
Promotes the marketing of parts and service to enhance the after sale value of our product and ensures return business
Sells allied support services such as PMs and extended warranties
Keeps accurate and up to date call logs, prospect lists and mileage information within CRM/Prospect Board
Provides status report to Branch General Manager as to achievement of goals and objectives
Attends training and sales meetings as required to stay current with new equipment and special deals
Provides feedback to other departments
Provides trade-in information when requested
Maintains a contact management type database for designated territory
Makes frequent opportunity calls and generates new customers
Handles difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. Fosters ongoing Company loyalty with Customers.
Maintains a high level of discretion when discussing sales strategy and a high level of confidentiality when dealing with customer lists, price lists and other documents reasonably assumed to be of a proprietary nature.
Practices ethical and professional standards when performing sales related duties at branch.
Participates in online and dealer provided equipment training and certification.
Ensures a clean, organized and safe work environment by adhering to a safety mindset and wearing all personal protective equipment when needed.
Presents a clean and professional appearance when representing the company. Business casual attire and well groomed.
Care for company issued tools and equipment such as vehicles, computers, cell phone and other job related resources.
Other duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

Several years of successful experience meeting or exceeding sales quotas in a highly competitive outside sales role.
Previous experience in industrial, construction or heavy equipment retail or rental sales is preferred
Experience in high dollar capital equipment sales will be considered.
Ability to use software applications such as the CDK business system (e.g. CRM & Prospect Board), Microsoft Office and Internet functions.
Ability to operate and demonstrate working features of heavy equipment being sold or rented.
Ability to travel and work flexible hours as well as work in various demanding environmental conditions.
Excellent negotiator, communicator and relationship builder.
