Job Description

Position Summary:

This position is the primary customer contact person for shop service and is responsible for managing the department and repairs to Construction Equipment.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Take incoming customer calls and schedule all Shop Service work.
  • Monitor open PIP list and order parts as required
  • Oversees all the clerical needs and maintains paper flow, including all invoicing, customer feedback and obtaining P.O.?s
  • Open and close R/O?s in a timely manner
  • Ensures all warranty invoicing to internal and external customers is complete
  • Supplies all document and reports needed to Service Manager
  • Manages yearly budget for Shop Service
  • Work closely with the Service Manager in policy matters as it pertains to Shop Service operations
  • Consults with the Service Manager in reaching an agreement on annual departmental objectives. Carry out programs in order to reach objectives
  • Collaborates with Service Manager and Training Manager to schedule Shop Service Techs into the respective classes available to ensure technicians have current and necessary skills
  • Provides any safety equipment and training to all Shop Service techs as needed
  • Applies working knowledge of Honnen represented brands systems to include basic mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
  • Handles and executes warranty in the best interest of the company and works with the warranty coordinator regarding any special warranty
  • Maintains and executes good housekeeping and safety in the work area for the best possible image of the company and safety of its employees
  • Interviews, hires and direct the work of all Shop Service techs
  • Conducts performance reviews of all Shop Service techs
  • Encourages adherence to company values, policies and best practices

Required Experience:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associates degree preferred. High School diploma and related experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
  • Three (3) + years of mechanic repair and maintenance experience with Heavy Equipment
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic repairs
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of heavy equipment
  • Intermediate computer and systems ability
  • Basic knowledge of accounting practices
  • Knowledge of Deere operating systems
  • Technical and parts knowledge
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, self-motivation and formal communication skills required.
