Position Specifics

Status: Full Time Hourly, Non-Exempt

Location: Ham Lake, MN

Department: Service

Reports to: Service Manager

Supervises: None

Pay Range: $17-$21/Hour, Depends on Qualifications/Experience



This position requires a strong knowledge and understanding of the ag and turf industry to assist management in maintaining accurate and on-time reports and records relative to the service department’s operation within the dealership.


Essential Duties

  • Answer incoming calls
  • Fields external customer and customer walk in inquiries to the Service Department; estimates repairs, understands and communicates effective repair times, and obtains authorizations as needed
  • Opens work orders as directed by the Service Manager and maintains control until they are closed
  • Maintains current product knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
  • Invoice work orders and collect payments when customers pick up serviced units
  • Provides support to the Service Department in loading/offloading equipment as necessary
  • Updates customer profiles from work orders such as equipment, hours, or other information
  • Review and correct Service Tech’s work hours
  • Schedule Delivery and pickup of customer’s units
  • Schedule Ready to Mow home service calls
  • Call customers when serviced units are ready to be picked up; arrange payment details
  • May process warranty and/or product improvement claims including the computation of charges, submission and follow-up
  • Supports department as needed in maintaining Service Department emails, filing and records
  • Participates in professional development and training programs offered by the dealership as necessary
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  • Assists other co-workers with related tasks as necessary
  • Other duties as assigned


Skills and Qualifications

  • General understanding of mechanical/technical terms is preferred
  • Attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service and phone etiquette
  • Strong people and communication skills with internal and external customers
  • Basic knowledge of accounting practices
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
  • Knowledge of office procedures
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience
