Are you a high school graduate or currently enrolled in a diesel technology program and looking for a company that supports your career growth, not just a job? Stotz Equipment is looking for motivated, hard-working, and career-minded individuals to invest in by supporting your pursuit in a diesel or heavy equipment college program or trade school through our John Deere Dealer sponsored Service Technician program. 

Our Service Technician Sponsorship Program is designed to help the right students obtain a 2-year Associates degree or Certificate. Sponsored students will receive a paid internship, tuition reimbursement, and hands-on training to perform basic diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on John Deere agriculture and turf equipment, and job security after graduation.

Sponsorship Candidate Process:

  1. Complete online application
  • Attach a letter of recommendation from a teacher/instructor. 
  • Attach a brief essay telling us why you would be the best candidate and why you want to participate in the John Deere Dealer Sponsorship Program.
  1. Complete our Profile Assessment
  2. Complete a phone interview with Human Resources

 Requirements for Sponsorship:

  • A high school graduate
  • Must be enrolled in a 2- or 4-year accredited diesel technology or heavy equipment program or certificate program to be considered for the Service Intern role
  • Complete at 3-month paid internship at the sponsoring Stotz dealership the summer before beginning classes
  • Internship performance must be evaluated before a formal offer of dealer sponsorship is granted
  • Maintain and graduate with a 3.0 GPA
  • Able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen
  • Have and maintain a clean driving record

Sponsored Service Technician Job Description:

  • Perform basic diagnostics, service repairs, and maintenance work on John Deere agriculture and small engine equipment
  • Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
  • Account for all work time and materials used in performing assigned duties on work orders
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Maintain condition of vehicles, inventory, tools, and equipment
  • Loads and unload equipment as needed
  • Deliver parts, run errands, wash and detail equipment for delivery
  • Ability to assemble and perform maintenance functions on equipment
  • Ability to bend, crouch, climb as well as lift up to 75 lbs

Qualifications/Skills Required:

  • Customer service oriented
  • Critical thinking
  • Ability to lift a least 75 lbs occasionally
  • Experience operating farm equipment
  • Own and maintain your own tools
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent oral communication and written skills
  • Strong organizational skills
