Service Manager

Position Specifics:

Reports to:          Store Manager

Supervises:         Service Writers, Technicians, Drivers


Manages Service operations to maximize return by optimizing Service processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.    Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.


  • Develops, communicates, and enforces Service policies and procedures
  • Schedules work and adjusts employee work schedules to accommodate workload
  • Reviews Work orders for accuracy prior to customer billing
  • Ensures all tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order
  • Submits all warranty and PIP claims within the required timeframe to maximize credit
  • Reviews safety procedures and has safety meetings once a month
  • Schedules and assigns jobs in the Service area.
  • Assists with the overall management of the store where applicable
  • Works with Store Manager and other managers to ensure customer satisfaction

Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge

  • 3+ years experience in Service Department operations  
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions
  • Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups
  • Familiar with John Deere and competitive products
  • Basic understanding of financial principles relative to Service Department operations 
  • Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required (Bachelor's Degree preferred)
