Job Description

Job Title: Service Manager

Location: Foristell, MO

Department: Service

Reports To: Regional Product Support Manager

Supervises: Service Technicians

Job Function:

Moderate physical effort; may be exposed to the elements (heat, cold, rain, snow); work in area with high voltage electricity, hazardous equipment and moving parts; work on second floors and other high places; ability to set up and climb ladders safely with tools and equipment necessary for assigned work; must be able to lift 80 pounds occasionally; must be able to walk, stand and stoop for an extended period of time (over 80% of the time); exposure to a variety of chemicals and dust daily.
 

Job Essential Duties:

  1. Directs overall Service Department operations.  Provides proper records and insures that service procedures are being followed.  Reviews work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing.
  2. Schedules and assigns jobs and work areas to employees in the Service Department according to their skills and knowledge.
  3. Ensures all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order.
  4. Creates annual Service Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives.
  5. Complies with all OSHA and Erb Equipment Safety and Health rules, and enforces compliance with the company’s Safety Loss Control Program within the Service Department.
  6. Participates in training programs and manages Service Department employees as they pursue training and certification levels in equipment repair.
  7. All other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Senior Management.

Skills & Qualifications:

  1.  High School Diploma or equivalency required; trade/vocational school education strongly preferred.  Bachelor’s degree in Business Management or related business field is preferred.
  2. 5+ years experience in Heavy Construction Equipment Service Department operations, and familiarity with John Deere equipment.  2+ years experience in a leadership/management position.
  3. Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions; familiarity with equipment diagnostic systems.
  4. Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups.
  5. Basic understanding of financial principles relative to Service Department operations.
  6. Excellent customer service skills.
