Job Description

This individual will be responsible for all sales tax reporting as well as create, research, and document all of the Company’s sales tax policies and procedures. Provide training and support for all stores relating to sales tax rules and manage the sales tax examination process with all taxing jurisdictions.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Research all sales and use tax rules applying to our multi-state organization and communicate the rules to our stores
  • Document and keep up to date all our sales and use tax policies (positions) for all sales and use tax jurisdictions
  • Assure all of our organization’s tax policies (positions) are reflected in the our accounting system
  • Provide training to personnel related to our organization’s tax policies and procedures
  • Test, on a sample basis, transactions in all of our locations to determine compliance with our organization’s policies
  • Prepare and timely file all state and local sales tax returns for our organization which is multi-state with various local jurisdictions
  • Prepare and timely file all federal excise tax and fuel tax reports
  • Provide support in responding to all sales and use tax audit inquiries
  • Follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook.
  • Conduct self in the presence of customers and community so as to present a professional image of RDO Equipment Co.
  • Proactively seek and participate in available company-sponsored training, in an effort to develop and advance knowledge base and skill set.
  • Participate in all company/location driven communication efforts, including open book meetings, huddles, department meetings and other related efforts.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner.

    Job Requirements:

  • Accounting degree or equivalent work experience
  • Knowledge and experience working with sales and use tax
  • Computer skills, Microsoft Office products, experience with general ledger software programs a plus
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
