Job Description


Manage the sales activities for a specific region or customer segment including the implementation of the Sales Department objectives and sales processes for complete goods.  Responsible for all sales metrics for a specific region or segment.  Attracts, retains, and effectively coaches department personnel.

Job Responsibilities/Duties
  • Manages, trains and coaches sales professionals in a specific region or customer segment.
  • Creates development plans for direct reports which includes identifying training needs.
  • Develops and reviews individual goals with sales staff that attains monthly and annual goals in support of the company’s overall location and/or departmental objectives.
  • Ensures sales metrics and goals are met for a specific region or customer segment.
  • Ensures that a consistent sales process is followed for their region or customer segment.
  • Ensures the sales document process is established and followed by sales team members for their region or customer segment.
  • Cofacilitates store level meetings to assure team work between all departments and among stores.
  • Works with other managers to identify and execute best practices.
  • Works with Service and Parts management to promote customer satisfaction
  • Manages budgets for a specific region or customer segment, in alignment with the organization’s financial and operational objectives.
  • Manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for direct reports.
  • Manages sales department equipment including vehicles and sales office equipment.
  • Supports used and new wholegoods inventory levels and metrics as developed by Wholegoods Manager of Sales.
  • Provides input to the Marketing Manager in the development of the wholegoods marketing strategy for their region or customer segment.
  • Presents a positive, professional image in dress and conduct at all times.
  • All other job duties as assigned.

Job Requirements


Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:

  • 3+ years sales experience, 1+ years sales management experience.
  • Familiar with John Deere and competitive products.
  • Proven managerial ability including leading, coaching, and developing others.
  • Ability to define and implement sales processes.
  • Ability to use Deere sales computer applications and tools.
  • Ability to use software applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports.
  • Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups.
  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in business or marketing or equivalent experience.

  • Exposed to a variety of working conditions including shop, office, outside, warehouse, etc.
  • Significant amount of travel (over 50 percent) required to conduct site visits and attend meetings, but home most nights.
  • Depending upon workload, longer working hours may be required to meet job demands and goals.
