Job Description

Job Function, Major Responsibilities, and Duties

Job Function:  Responsible for the daily selling and stocking of parts and providing excellent customer service to PrairieLand customers and service technicians.

Major Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Sell parts to customers
  • Maintain customer good will
  • Assist in keeping parts department clean and orderly.
  • Record all sales and/or counter transactions that occur.
  • Supply service technicians with parts as required.
  • Assist in merchandising displays with Parts Manager
  • Verify receiving shipments.
  • Follow up on shortages and expedite through reporting to Parts Manager.
  • Should be knowledgeable of parts merchandising and associated selling.
  • Any other duties assigned by either parts or service department.
Qualificiations, Physical Demands, and Work Environment

General Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each major duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  In addition, this person must be a highly creative, imaginative and motivated merchandising and sales oriented person.  They must understand the details of inventory control and be able to apply that knowledge to maintain a totally accurate and effective inventory control system.  They should have an understanding of financial management as it relates to the Parts Department.

Required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

A current driver’s license is required and must be maintained for this position.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel: reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to sit.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision ability required by this job includes close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust and focus.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock.  The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
