This position is responsible for assisting customers by properly identifying needed items, using parts catalogs and computer system, billing merchandise orders, and making necessary entries to the inventory control system, while distributing special order parts, receiving warranty parts, and maintaining shelf stock.


  1. Works with parts team to make the department more profitable.
  2. Finds out the model, serial number, and type of part needed.
  3. Reads catalogs, John Deere Vision or computer for replacement part stock number and price.
  4. Orders and receives parts from John Deere and other vendors.
  5. Fills customer orders from stock.
  6. Ensures technicians receive the correct parts in a timely manner.
  7. Receives and ships parts as needed in accordance with DOT guidelines.
  8. Tracks lost sales.
  9. Studies and stays current on new product bulletins and catalogs.
  10. Prepares computerized invoices.
  11. Receives payment or obtains credit authorization.
  12. Advises customer on substitution or modification of part when replacement is not available.
  13. Picks up and delivers parts for customers and vendors as needed.
  14. Maintains periodical parts returns as needed.
  15. Attends training classes and store meetings.
  16. Examines returned parts to determine if defective and exchange part or refund money.
  17. Marks and stores parts in stockroom according to prearranged system
  18. Always see that defective merchandise is tagged properly with date, hours used, serial number, model number, correct part number, and placed in warranty bins.
  19. Returns all unsold merchandise immediately to the correct stock location.
  20. Notifies Parts Manager of discrepancies between inventory records and shelf quantities.
  21. Maintains a clean and safe operating department.
  22. Assists with annual physical inventory.
  23. Controls expenses to increase profitability.
  24. Other duties as directed.

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Technical school preferred.
  3. Oneyear certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  4. Organization and communication skills must be highly developed. Computer skills need to be broad based. Experience can be used in place of certificate or degree
