Job Description

Position Specifics:

Department:  Service

Reports to:  Service Manager or Location Manager

Supervises:  None

Purpose:

Independently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment.  May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager or Shop Foreman.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs complex diagnostics and repairs on agricultural, nutrient application, and turf equipment and established Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products
  • Participates in Service EDUCATE Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge
  • Performs diagnosis and repair in the field as required
  • Majority of work will be field work out of field service truck
  • Mentors Service Technician Trainees and Service Technicians
  • Conducts or supports customer clinics
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
  • Maintains condition of vehicles, inventory, tools and equipment
  • Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  • Completes all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments
  • Accounts for all time and all material used in performing assigned duties

Qualifications

Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge:

  • 5+ years experience performing service repairs
  • Ability to perform complex repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures on machines of the Technician’s specialty
  • Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment
  • Excellent skills in operating vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Ability to use Service Advisor and basic computer functions, ability to create their own work orders
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly
  • Master Service Technician certification preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) and fork lift license preferred
  • Must be able to meet and maintain insurable driving status
  • Must have their own tools
  • Traveling may be required, occasional overnight stays.
  • Must be self-motivated and ability to work on their own remotely
  • Responsible for a specific territory (SW and Western Nebraska)
