Job Description

Department:  Service

Reports to:    Service Manager

Supervises:   None


Performs complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment to deliver the ultimate customer experience. Majority of work to be completed in field or on farm using mobile service truck.


  • Perform complex on-site diagnostics and repairs on agricultural and turf equipment and Ag Management Solutions (AMS) products
  • May include on farm setup of new equipment and on farm reconditioning of trade in equipment
  • Participate in required Service EDUCATE training programs
  • Support customer clinics
  • Review and explain any maintenance, repair or other service concerns directly with the customer and document on work order
  • Promotes and sells dealer parts and service programs directly to customers
  • Establish and implement effective stocking processes with the Parts Department to maintain the proper seasonal parts inventory in the vehicle
  • Maintain a current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
  • Maintain condition of mobile service vehicle, parts inventory, tools and equipment
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
  • Completes paperwork thoroughly and promptly
  • Accounts for all time and material used in performing assigned duties
  • Willingness to travel throughout SEMA’s area of responsibility to complete work
  • Other duties as assigned by Management

Job Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience performing service repairs and/or equivalent educational experience
  • Outstanding interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to perform complex repairs and required maintenance using special tools and equipment following Technical Manual procedures
  • Expert knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in the repair of agricultural and turf equipment
  • Ability to use Microsoft Windows based applications
  • Ability to use Service Advisor and PM Pro
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Ability to 60 – 70 pounds frequently
  • Ability to lift 75 – 100 pounds on a regular basis
  • Candidates must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist and reach on a frequent basis is required
  • Basic data entry and keyboarding skills are preferred
  • Advanced or Master Service Technician certification preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required; Associated degree preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record is required; CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) preferred
  • Medical card required
  • Candidate must become forklift certified within 30 days of employment
