Job Description

Department: Sales

Reports to: Store Manager or Field Manager Sales

Supervises: None

Position Summary:

Sells new and used agricultural and turf equipment to new and existing customers – with primary focus and accountability on advancing turf product sales and the turf sales strategy. Focuses on walk-in, retail-oriented, customer traffic.

 Specific Duties Include:

  • Represents the location and company for the sale of machinery and turf products with primary responsibility for walk-in customers
  • Maintains current product knowledge on features and benefits of all equipment saleable by the dealership, with an emphasis on <90hp tractors, implements & attachments, as well as turf products
  • Has a retail-selling emphasis (understands task-oriented questions to ask, validates customer requirements, proposes solution, offers demonstration and moves to close)
  • Knows and follows a defined sales process; and uses company provided systems/tools to fully document, track, record, follow-up and capture all related sales activity in a timely and accurate manner; maintains a manageable strategic key customer list
  • Has keen awareness of the competition and competitive products, as well as business and industry trends – and communicates to management and team • Monitors trends in customer’s business activities and communicates to management
  • Maintains current knowledge of financing options to assist customers with securing the purchase of new and used goods, and to attain acceptable market share levels
  • Maintains strong knowledge of used equipment values; and able to evaluate properly for trades
  • Contributes directly to the proposal process, winning the sale, volume, territory awareness, participation, and overall customer satisfaction
  • Coordinates and facilitates other company employees, departments, locations and internal and external product/service experts
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments
  • Proactively seeks and participates in available company-sponsored training
  • Participates in all company/location driven communication efforts, including sales and marketing meetings, department meetings and other related efforts
  • Maintains a positive and professional working relationship with customers, peers, management, and support resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and exemplary customer service
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by management in a professional and efficient manner

Qualifications: 

  • Prior sales experience and/or training; 1+ years of retail sales experience preferred
  • Knowledge of agricultural or turf equipment and farming or operational practices preferred
  • Strong understanding of market/industry conditions
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Ability to analyze and interpret basic sales reports
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
  • Excellent computer skills
