The Cost Accountant is responsible for the ongoing analysis of product costing through cost effective data accumulation in order to provide meaningful and accurate costing information to all levels of management across the Brandt Manufacturing Companies (“Company”) to enhance the strength and consistency of cost accounting principles.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, labor and overhead.
- Analyzing data collected and recording results
- Analyzing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost.
- Analyzing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs including but not limited to purchase price to cost variance, cost revaluation, invoice to PO price variances and work order variances.
- Ensure process integrity within Manufacturing, Intercompany, and Inventory while working with cross-functional peers to resolve process issues.
- Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures
- Analyzing audits of costs and preparing reports
- Making estimates of new and proposed product costs
- Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
- Review and analysis of new product costing in conjunction with engineering and manufacturing
- Maintaining cost accounting system
- Conducts physical inventories and monitors cycle count program
- Reconciles finished goods inventories
