Our Construction Commercial Worksite Products (CWP) Field Mechanic diagnoses and repairs John Deere CWP equipment (compact wheel loaders, utility vehicles, compact tractors, skid steers, off road, construction, lawn equipment, etc.) for customers onsite at their locations. The CWP Field Mechanic serves as a representative for the dealership and provides clear communication on status of equipment repairs and inspections to both the customer as well as the service department.

As a Construction CWP Field Mechanic, your more typical responsibilities will include:

  • Requires a strong work ethic to complete tasks efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Performs diagnostics, repairs, inspections, and reconditions on CWP, Rental, and John Deere equipment and technology in the field in a timely and accurate manner as required
  • Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
  • Identify and communicate solutions for customer service opportunities in area of responsibility
  • Maintains accurate inventory of parts, tools, and technology kept in stock on service vehicle     
  • Maintains condition of vehicle, inventory, tools and equipment
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments in alignment with James River Equipment protocol and John Deere training
  • Completes and submits all paperwork in conjunction with maintenance assignments
  • Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders; responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics, quotes/inspections, and repairs performed on work orders
Requirements include:

  • 5 years or more experience performing diagnostic services, repairs and mechanic work on John Deere CWP/construction equipment
  • Product knowledge of CWP and the technology equipment the coincides with the equipment
  • Proficient computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Service ADVISOR
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, technology, and hydraulic systems used in CWP equipment
  • Ability to operate vehicles, tools, and equipment used for diagnostic purposes
  • Ability to lift at least 75 lbs. repeatedly
  • Mechanic certification preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required
  • Must have an adequate toolset
