The history of James River Equipment dates back to 1926 when Rudolph Romer opened his first John Deere Dealership in Holly, Colorado. In 1977, the Romers made the decision to expand eastward and purchased four construction and forestry dealerships in Virginia which were combined to form James River Equipment. Since 2001, James River Equipment has added on average one new location and one new partner per year. We are looking for a person to join our team and focus on the road building community. James River Equipment carries the Wirtgen family of mills, pavers, and asphalt rollers. Our new hire will be a product expert, customer consultant and advocate, and manufacturer liaison. James River Equipment is currently seeking an Asphalt Paving Products Consultant for our leadership team. Job Responsibilities:  

Grow our asphalt and paving business in both sales and rentals within the large national account road builders and the smaller regional customers, prospect for new accounts, and maintain existing customer relationships 

Work as a cooperative team member with the main-line sales professional and product support team to provide a seamless and exceptional customer experience 

Solicit OEM/aftermarket parts sales and service revenue projects from potential customers 

Submit call reports that align with company sales strategies and goals, and maintain list of active deals with follow-up dates and action plans to keep store manager advised 

Communicate customer issues and opportunities to appropriate manager Work directly with manufacturer on quoting, demonstration, and training opportunities   

Job Requirements:  

Minimum 3 years sales experience in heavy equipment; asphalt and/or paving experience a huge plus 

High school diploma or equivalent—college preferred Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record 

Motivated, Disciplined, Self-starter with demonstrated strong work ethic 

Strong analytical and math skills, strong communication skills  

Daily Expectations:  

Operate a vehicle day and night 

Specialist will work inside and out in all weather conditions

Much of demo time may be at night on the roadways 60%-70% time spent traveling across Virginia meeting customers, working with sales team, training others and keeping individual training and certifications current 

Assist technical team with demonstrations; may be in a boardroom with a CEO one day and on a demo site helping the service team prepare a machine the next day
