Job Description

Purpose:

Sells new and used large agricultural, small ag, and turf equipment to new and existing customers while making sure the customer’s relationship with all departments at the dealership remains strong. Emphasis on Large Ag John Deere Equipment Sales.

Responsibilities:

o Represents the company for the sale of equipment, and basic technology-based products and services to a defined area or list of assigned customers.

o Maintains current product knowledge of all equipment potentially saleable by the dealership.

o Maintains current knowledge of financing and risk management options to assist customers with securing the purchase of new and used goods

o Engages with dealership specialists (IS Consultants, Application Specialist) when needed in completing a sale or answering customer questions

o Knows and follows a defined sales process, uses 100% of dealership sales processes

o Monitors and timely communicates any competitive activity to management

o Updates and retains relevant customer information such as equipment and operational information in the customer relationship management system

o Enhances the relationship between the dealership and assigned customers

o Understands and communicates changes in customer’s operations or management personnel and helps the dealership prepare for future customer needs

o Helps the customer optimize their operations, follows up on customer satisfaction surveys

o Conducts new equipment field demonstrations

o Attends applicable sales training events/sales meetings

o Maintains assigned company vehicles and equipment

o Maintains current knowledge of used equipment values and gives a proper evaluation of equipment for trading purposes.

Qualifications

Experience, Education, Skills, and Knowledge:

o 2+ years equipment sales experience preferred

o Knowledge of John Deere and competitive agricultural or turf equipment preferred

o Knowledge of advanced farming operations and trends

o Ability to use software applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions

o Ability to work flexible hours

o Excellent customer relationship skills with current and future decision makers

o High School Diploma or equivalent work experience, Associates or Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or Ag-related discipline preferred.
