Position Summary

This position is responsible for installation of aftermarket grade control, grade guidance and other devices use in machine solutions offered through 4Sight Solutions.  In addition, the person in this role will be responsible for calibration and troubleshooting of SmartGrade solutions.

Duties and Tasks:

  1. Aftermarket Grade Control and Grade Guidance Installations, Calibrations and Troubleshooting
    1. Install and calibrate solutions for customers
    2. Ensure installations are done in a clean and professional manner
    3. Ensure all components of the solution are properly communicating
  2. SmartGrade Calibrations and Troubleshooting
    1. Visit stores to conduct SmartGrade calibrations as needed
    2. Troubleshoot issues with SmartGrade machines and report back issue to service departments if repair required goes beyond the technology package on the machine
    3. Provide assistance to shops for any Field Kit installations that are scheduled
    4. Ensure designated techs at each branch are trained on calibration of SmartGrade solutions
  3. Installation of John Deere Machine Telematics Gateways (MTGs)
    1. Cooperate with JDLink Administrator in order to get new MTGs installed on customer machines
    2. Work with service departments to coordinate installation of MTGs on 4RE rental fleet
  4. Annual Maintenance and Calibration of Installed Systems
    1. Maintain visibility using CRM of customers with support contracts
    2. Conduct end of support contract system maintenance, record results, and make recommendations for repairs needed
    3. Report back to 4Sight team, status of final system maintenance visits to ensure transparency
    4. Discuss renewals of 4Sight Support Contract with customer and turn over leads to 4Sight salesman
  5. SVAP Expert alerts
    1. Engage customers with Expert Alerts that branches are not able to respond to
    2. Take corrective action in accordance with existing policies and procedures
    3. In situations where repair is beyond the 4Sight Technician’s scope, collaborate with responsible branch for follow up
    4. Engage with Connected Support team for follow up actions and documentation

 

Position Requirements:

  1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a heavy equipment mechanic, or similar experience as a mechanic in another industrial setting
  2. Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a company provided vehicle
  3. Own a basic mechanic’s toolset
  4. Welding experience
  5. Able to use common Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and Edge
  6. Understanding of heavy equipment CANbus communications
  7. Understanding of construction applications a plus but not required
  8. Experience with Topcon, Leica, or Trimble grade control systems a plus, but not required

Physical Requirements:

  1. Capable of moving objects weighing up to 60 pounds.  
  2. Able to work on and around heavy equipment
  3. Walk over rough terrain typically found on construction sites
  4. Able to operate a motor vehicle day or night

Working Conditions:

  1. Daily travel required however, minimal overnight stays are required
  2. Manufacturer required training may require air travel and overnight stays
  3. Hazards from electrical, mechanical and power equipment
  4. Risk of exposure to chemicals such as steam cleaner soap, used oil, spent antifreeze, parts cleaning solvent, volatile hydrocarbons, battery acid
  5. Mists, fumes and non-continuous noises of varying sound level and intensities
  6. Heavy dust from job site conditions 
  7. Basic math skills

Candidate is responsible for providing their own hand tools and light power tools.  Company truck, laptop and chell phone will be provided.
