2023 Summer College Internship Program

American Implement is excited to offer it’s summer internship program to motivated, talented students who are interested in gaining knowledge of the inner-workings of a successful John Deere dealership and impact our enterprise in a positive manner. Interns will be hands-on in one of the two intern tracks being offered:

 - Sales/Precision Ag Track based at one of our 16 locations

 - Aftermarket Track based at one of our 16 locations

Interns will complete integral responsibilities and projects within their respective departments to earn a deeper understanding of how the entirety of the dealership works together during their summer long position, lasting at least 11 weeks.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Must be a current college student enrolled in a bachelors program that is Ag-related or have high interest in applying their education towards the Ag-industry. Examples include: Agribusiness, Ag Communications, Ag Technology, Ag Engineering, Agronomy, Business or Marketing.

• Minimum of 2.7 GPA

• Current Sophomore or Junior preferred, graduating Seniors will also be considered

• Availability to work a 40-hour+ week during summer months

• At least 18 years of age with valid driver’s license

• Great verbal and written communication skills

• Computer aptitude

• Be able to present an end of the session review to location and American Implement Leadership

Sales/Precision Agriculture:

American Implement Sales and Precision Agriculture Departments strive to help meet the customers’ unique operational needs with the right equipment and technology to provide as complete solutions as possible. As an intern, you’ll be assisting in various processes to help the department run as efficiently as possible to help aid in customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Sales

- Marketing responsibilities such as taking pictures of equipment, moving and displaying equipment

- Following up on internet leads

- Managing Used/New list by keeping up with sales tracking emails to keep recent for sales team

- Delivering equipment—Includes basic operations with customer

- Completing internal equipment transfer and service requests

- Maintaining and completing required inventory counts

- Champion of one clinic/workshop at location—Can be virtual content

- Support dealership needs as needed through wheat harvest

- Other projects as determined by student’s interest and enterprise needs

Precision Agriculture

- Hardware installs

- Data solution retrieval and uploads

- Providing adequate Precision Ag attachment information from trade-in equipment

- Activation and subscription configurations

- Basic phone and in-field support

- Other projects as determined by student’s interest and enterprise needs

The Sales and Precision Agriculture Intern will report to the Location Manager or another person as seen fit within the departments supporting. This is a paid internship—$16/hr.

Aftermarket:

American Implement Parts and Service Departments strive to continuously support our customers throughout their equipment's lifecycle by supplying parts and service support in a knowledgeable and timely manner. As an intern, you’ll be assisting in various processes to help the departments run as efficiently as possible to help aid in customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

Service

- Enter and verify daily technician time and matching

- Monitor Warranty Expirations

- Monitor Product Improvement Programs

- Run daily reports on Productivity and Attendance and Delay on job code report

- Learn Standard Job Pricing, Tech Level and Competency, and Warranty (time and material).

- Manage special Tools inventory and organization

- Marketing

Utilizing Percentage of Products Serviced (POP’s) tool to identify opportunities

Promoting any current specials

- Champion of one clinic/workshop at location—Can be virtual content

- Other projects as determined by student’s interest and enterprise needs

Parts

- Learn and understand the key Parts metrics

- Learn and assist parts ordering processes

- Study inventory management

- Leverage POP’s program for promotions, specials

- Understand Shop parts procurement process

- Help manage outstanding inter branch transfer reports

- Assist in receiving parts

- Assist with bin counts and inventory

- Other projects as determined by student’s interest and enterprise needs

The Aftermarket Intern will report to the Location Manager or another person as seen fit within the departments supporting. This is a paid internship—$16/hr.
